Ellagic acid is found in plants, nuts and fruits (particularly blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries). It was found to be a potent inhibitor of the catalytic activities of human DNA topolsomerase I and II. Another inhibitor of these is doxorubicin (adriamycin), used as a chemotherapy agent.
