Interaction of Coumadin and Methylprednisolone

Arch Fam Med. 2000;9:920.

In a prospective study in France, the international normalized ratio increased significantly after administration of intravenous methylprednisolone in patients also given oral anticoagulants (fluindione or acenocoumarol), but not in patients given intravenous methylprednisolone alone. Anticoagulation needs to be carefully monitored in the setting of concurrent oral anticoagulants and intravenous methylprednisolone. (Ann Intern Med. 2000;132:631-635.)
