Finding Help is an excellent resource of information concerning common problems of everyday living. The book offers a bibliography of the current resources that can be found in a library or bookstore that deal with medical and emotional problems. It is also a reference of agencies and organizations that offer help to people with specific diseases or other concerns. The book is not a replacement for therapy and does not offer specific recommendations for personal self-help.

The purpose of the book is to help individuals so they "do not feel alone with their problems... and to offer them hope." It was also written to assist individuals in finding help and resources for their particular problems and to help them "gain insight and understanding of the issues/areas of concern" they face.
