WIN-WIN BARGAINING: A NEW SPIRIT IN SCHOOL NEGOTIATIONS?

Abstract

This article explores potential strengths and problems of using win-win bargaining in schools. It differs from earlier articles on win-win by placing both distributive and integrative bargaining in a historical context and by challenging the verifiability of some claims made for win-win. It concludes that the current climate is ripe for trying more cooperative bargaining modes and that win-win has applicability in small, relatively harmonious districts.
