Abstract

Paraprofessionals, under many titles, have shown themselves important to education, both in the classroom and as a bridge between the schools and the community. Now they are organized into bargaining units. The author advocates keeping the teacher aide role a discussable, negotiable issue in contract talks for maximum benefit all around.
