The Antidepressant -like Effects of Delta-Opioid Receptor Agonists

The effects of the delta-opioid agonists on convulsions and antidepressant-like effects in rats. SNC80 (A) and (+)BW373U86 (B) dose dependently increased convulsions and decreased immobility in the forced swim test, indicating an antidepressant-like effect in rats. For (+)BW373U86, convulsions were observed at the same doses as significant decreases in immobility. With SNC80, significant decreases in immobility were observed prior to the appearance of convulsions. Significant decreases in immobility were determined by one-way ANOVA and Dunnett’s post hoc test.
