Sclerotherapy: Treatment of Varicose and Telangiectatic Leg Veins by Mitchell Goldman is a gold mine of facts and information for both the novice and the experienced sclerotherapist. Although published in 1991, the information presented is current, complete, and readily understandable. Numerous illustrations clarify the concepts presented. In addition, color clinical photographs document the reality as well as reinforce the learning process.
This text serves as a basis for many sclerotherapy courses. The anatomy and etiology of varicosities and telangiectasia and their sequelae are clearly outlined. The reader is led through the noninvasive examination of the patient before sclerotherapy, the actual injection process, and the recommended follow-up care. Potential complications are reviewed in detail.
The text threads the fine line of providing an excellent review of all topics without becoming esoteric. Alternative approaches are presented in detail but without unnecessary attention to minutiae. Patient choices and treatment options are well presented
