In the article titled "A Critical Review of the New Oral Cephalosporins: Considerations and Place in Therapy" published in the November 1994 issue of the ARCHIVES (1994;3:975-980), the authors state that cefixime is unapproved for gonococcal infections. Cefixime gained approval for the treatment of uncomplicated gonorrhea of the cervix or urethra caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae (penicillinase- and non—penicillinase-producing strains), effective February 1993. The Archives regrets the error.
