It was during my first with Dr Bernard when she asked if I had any problems with bladder control. I described how I lost urine when I sneezed or coughed and that it had been happening, off and on, for 4 or 5 years. While it had not been a constant problem, it had made me more cautious about travel and visiting. I didn't want to face the embarrassment away from my home. This bothered me because one of my favorite pasttimes since I retired has been visiting with friends and family.

Dr Bernard told me that many people with stress incontinence could be helped with pelvic muscle exercises. I had heard of the exercises, but I had not asked how often to do them. I hadn't learned that I should be so faithful in doing them every day. She provided information about the frequency and diligence for performing the exercises.
