Abstract
This paper reports on a survey of unionized public higher educational institutions. Included in the discussion are: administrative responses to bargaining, and shifts in academic personnel policies and practices. The bargaining impact on the assignment of tasks and the coordination of administrative effort is reviewed, and the effect of bargaining on job security and other personnel policies relating to standards for hiring, tenure, termination, retrenchment, and grievance is assessed. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 United States License.
