Abstract

This study examined an abbreviated measure of union commitment and compared the underlying factor structure for union members of a federal public utility agency (N = 145) and members of a local of a national tire and rubber manufacturing firm (N = 234). The results indicated that differences in the underlying factor structure for the two samples represent differences in sample and context. The implication of these findings for future union and work commitment research is considered.
