Abstract
The study compared the decision-making patterns of professional arbitrators and nonprofessionals, using hypothetical final-offer arbitration cases. The results showed: first, there appeared to be no individual differences among professional arbitrators, while their counterparts consistently showed individual differences; second, nonprofesionals placed more emphasis on the comparability standards in decisions than professional arbitrators. This study raises questions about the validity of previous research. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 United States License.
