Abstract
Unionization and collective bargaining in the public sector have led to grievances and conflict. These and other factors have added pressure to the trend toward larger bargaining units and more coordinated bargaining by management. The role of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) in helping to resolve grievances by arbitration is discussed in this article, and the advantages of using and impartial third party arbitrator, such as one from the AAA panel, are cited. The paper also reviews other functions of the AAA that may be useful to those faced with public sector labor problems. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 United States License.
