Abstract

This article is an account of winning the battle for collective bargaining in the state university system of Florida. Its thrust includes the following: the structure of the United Faculty of Florida, how a collective bargaining election was reached, a schedule of the union election by the Florida Public Employees Relation Commission, the challenge to the election, AAUP vs. AAUP-Florida, the contenders, the platforms, another challenge, certification of the election, the first negotiations, the agreement and its ratification.
