Abstract
National beverage container deposit legislation is a viable policy approach to the reduction of the true overall social costs of beverage consumption. Net social benefit would result from the passage of deposit legislation by increasing reuse and recycling of beer and soft drink containers. This study evaluates the interrelated impacts of legislation in terms of employment, natural resource consumption, capital requirements, litter, solid waste, environmental quality, consumer convenience, and prices. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 United States License.
