Abstract
This article presents a brief history of the development of AIDS and reviews the safety issues unique to a healthcare setting. The legal issues facing hospitals as employers and healthcare providers are reviewed and analyzed. Included are sections on the various federal and state laws and regulations that affect hospital employees and patients.
