Facilitative Diffusion of Anandamide (Model 4). This model involves a specific plasma membrane binding protein (orange) that facilitates anandamide transport across the
plasma membrane. Although the highest concentration of FAAH (red) has been localized to perinuclear compartments, our working
hypothesis suggests that sufficient FAAH resides at the plasma membrane closely associated with the transport protein or moves
to the plasma membrane based on use-dependency to facilitate transport and hydrolysis.
