Previous assertions claimed that DSM 123 and NCIMB 8252 were equivalent deposits, but this was refuted by Ramana et al. 2012. Imhoff et al. 2020 later indicated that ATCC 17001 (Approved Lists 1980) had lost properties of the authentic original deposit and was no longer suitable as type material.
