Nomenclatural History
The species Acetobacter pasteurianus was originally described by Beijerinck and Folpmers 1916. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Hördt et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. In 1879, Hansen reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Hansen 1879) Beijerinck and Folpmers 1916 emend. De Ley and Frateur 1974 (Approved Lists 1980) . Gosselé et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of (Henneberg 1898) De Ley and Frateur 1974 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Hördt et al. 2020 in 1983. Gosselé et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of (Frateur 1950) De Ley and Frateur 1974 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Hördt et al. 2020 in 1983. Gosselé et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Visser't Hooft 1925 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Hördt et al. 2020 in 1983.
