The species Actinomadura cremea was originally described by Preobrazhenskaya et al. 1975. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. In 1990, Howey et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form Preobrazhenskaya et al. 1990 .
