Nomenclatural History
The species Aeromonas punctata was originally described by Snieszko 1957. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. In 1964, Schubert reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Zimmermann 1890) Snieszko 1957 (Approved Lists 1980) . Holmes established as an earlier homotypic synonym of (ex Eddy 1962) Popoff 1984 pro synon. Aeromonas punctata (Zimmermann 1890) Snieszko 1957 (Approved Lists 1980) in 1992.
