Nomenclatural History	The subspecies Alcaligenes denitrificans xylosoxydans was originally described by Kersters and De Ley 1984. This name was validly published by List Editor 1984. Kiredjian et al. replaced this illegitimate name with Alcaligenes xylosoxidans denitrificans (Rüger and Tan 1983) Kiredjian et al. 1986 in 1986. Although this name appeared on Validation List 15, it is illegitimate because it was a new combination that did not preserve the appropriate epithet or type.
