Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Alcaligenes xylosoxidans denitrificans was originally described by Kiredjian et al. 1986. In 1986, Kiredjian et al. reduced (ex Leifson and Hugh 1954) Rüger and Tan 1983 to the rank of subspecies. This name replaces the name Kersters and De Ley 1984 .

This name was suggested by Kiredjian et al. (1986) but did not include a formal proposal and is therefore considered to be an incidental mention of a name.
