Nomenclatural History
The species Aquaspirillum peregrinum was originally described by Hylemon et al. 1973. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. In 1973, Hylemon et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Pretorius 1963) Hylemon et al. 1973 (Approved Lists 1980) . In 2005, Pot and Gillis established as the basonym of (Pretorius 1963) Pot and Gillis 2005 . In 2007, Yoon et al. established as the basonym of (Pretorius 1963) Yoon et al. 2007 .
