Nomenclatural History
The species Francisella tularensis was originally described by Dorofe'ev 1947. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. In 1983, Olsufjev and Meshcheryakova reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (McCoy and Chapin 1912) Olsufjev and Meshcheryakova 1983 .
