Nomenclatural History	The subspecies Lactobacillus plantarum plantarum was originally described and validly published by Bringel et al. 2005. In 2005, Bringel et al. reduced Lactobacillus plantarum (Orla-Jensen 1919) Bergey et al. 1923 (Approved Lists 1980) to the rank of subspecies. In 2020, Zheng et al. established Lactobacillus plantarum plantarum as the basonym of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum plantarum (Orla-Jensen 1919) Zheng et al. 2020 . The elevation of the sole subspecies by Li et al. 2020 effectively reverted priority back to the species level from the coordinate status subspecies.
