Nomenclatural History
|
The species Lactobacillus yamanashiensis was originally described by Nonomura et al. 1965. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1983 the name was revived and validly published by Nonomura. In 1983, Nonomura reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form
Lactobacillus yamanashiensis yamanashiensis Nonomura 1983
. Kaneuchi et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Lactobacillus mali Carr and Davies 1970 (Approved Lists 1980)
in 1988.
