The species Microbispora rosea was originally described by Nonomura and Ohara 1957. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. In 1990, Miyadoh et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form
