Nomenclatural History
The species Paenibacillus larvae was originally described by Ash et al. 1993. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 51 in 1994. Heyndrickx et al. published an emended description of this species in 1996. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Genersch et al. in 2006. Ash et al. formed this name in 1993 by placing the species White 1906 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Ash et al. 1994 emend. Huang et al. 2017. In 1996, Heyndrickx et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (White 1906) Ash et al. 1994 . Heyndrickx et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of (Nakamura 1984) Ash et al. 1994 in 1996.
