Nomenclatural History
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 38 in 1991. The species Streptomyces olivoreticuli was originally described by Arai et al. 1957. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1990 the name was revived by Witt and Stackebrandt. In 1990, Witt and Stackebrandt reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Arai et al. 1957) Witt and Stackebrandt 1990 . Hatano et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of Witt and Stackebrandt 1991 pro synon. Streptoverticillium abikoense (Umezawa et al. 1951) Locci et al. 1969 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2003. established as a later homotypic synonym of corrig. (Arai et al. 1957) Baldacci et al. 1966 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2017.

Streptomyces olivoreticlui (ex Arai et al. 1957) Witt and Stackebrandt 1991) is homotypic to Streptoverticillium olivoreticuli (Arai et al. 1957) Baldacci 1966 by default, because Streptomyces olivoreticuli (Arai et al. 1957) is the basonym to Streptoverticillium olivoreticuli (Arai et al. 1957) Baldacci 1966.
