Nomenclatural History
The species Streptoverticillium cinnamoneum was originally described by Baldacci et al. 1966. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. In 1980, Skerman et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Benedict et al. 1952) Baldacci et al. 1966 (Approved Lists 1980) . established as an earlier homotypic synonym of Witt and Stackebrandt 1991 pro synon. Streptoverticillium cinnamoneum (Benedict et al. 1952) Baldacci et al. 1966 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2017.
