The species Thioalkalimicrobium microaerophilum was originally described by Sorokin et al. 2007. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 115 in 2007. In 2017, Boden et al. established as the basonym of (Sorokin et al. 2007) Boden et al. 2017 .
