The species Clostridium asparagiforme was originally described by Mohan et al. 2006. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 117 in 2007. In 2013, Yutin and Galperin established Clostridium asparagiforme as the basonym of
Lachnoclostridium asparagiforme (Mohan et al. 2007) Yutin and Galperin 2013
. In 2020, Haas and Blanchard established Clostridium asparagiforme as the basonym of
Enterocloster asparagiformis (Mohan et al. 2007) Haas and Blanchard 2020
.
