Nomenclatural History

The species Flavobacterium halmephilium was originally described by Elazari-Volcani 1940. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Hill et al. corrected this name from Flavobacterium halmephilium (sic) to Flavobacterium halmephilum . In 1988, Franzmann et al. established Flavobacterium halmephilium as the basonym of
Halomonas halmophila (Elazari-Volcani 1940) Franzmann et al. 1989 emend. Dobson et al. 1990
