The subspecies Xenorhabdus nematophilus nematophilus was originally described and validly published by Akhurst 1983. Euzeby and Boemare corrected this name from Xenorhabdus nematophilus nematophilus (sic) to Xenorhabdus nematophila nematophila . In 1983, Akhurst reduced
Xenorhabdus nematophila corrig. (Poinar and Thomas 1965) Thomas and Poinar 1979 (Approved Lists 1980)
to the rank of subspecies.
