The species Kitasatosporia cystarginea was originally described by Kusakabe and Isono 1988. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 41 in 1992. Zhang et al. corrected this name from (sic) to . In 1992, Nakagaito et al. established as the basonym of (Kusakabe and Isono 1992) Nakagaito et al. 1993 .
