The species Chryseobacterium hungaricum was originally described and validly published by Szoboszlay et al. 2008. García-López et al. published an emended description of this species in 2019. In 2020, Nicholson et al. established Chryseobacterium hungaricum as the basonym of
Epilithonimonas hungarica (Szoboszlay et al. 2008) Nicholson et al. 2020
