The species Asaccharobacter celatus was originally described and validly published by Minamida et al. 2008. Danylec et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. In 2018, Nouioui et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form
Adlercreutzia equolifaciens celatus (Minamida et al. 2008) Nouioui et al. 2018 emend. Stoll et al. 2021
