Photorhabdus temperata temperata (Fischer-Le Saux et al. 1999) Tóth and Lakatos 2008
Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Photorhabdus temperata temperata was originally described and validly published by Tóth and Lakatos 2008. In 2008, Tóth and Lakatos reduced Fischer-Le Saux et al. 1999 emend. Machado et al. 2018 to the rank of subspecies.

The publication of Photorhabdus temperata subsp. temperata by Fischer-Le Saux et al. in 1999 was illegitimate, because there were no other subspecies created at the same time, therefore there was no reason to create a subspecies at all. The coordinate status subspecies was later legitimately created by Rule 40d when Photorhabdus temperata subsp. cinerea was published (Tóth and Lakatos 2008).
