Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Xylella fastidiosa fastidiosa was originally described by Schaad et al. 2004. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 127 in 2009. In 2004, Schaad et al. reduced Wells et al. 1987 to the rank of subspecies.
