Nomenclatural History
The phylum Planctobacteria was originally proposed by Cavalier-Smith 2002. This name was placed onto the nomina taxorum rejicienda by Judicial Opinion 79 in 2005. Judicial Commission of the International Committee on Systematics of Prokaryotes replaced this illegitimate name with corrig. Garrity and Holt 2021 in 2014.
