Nomenclatural History
The species Francisella noatunensis was originally described by Ottem et al. 2009. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 128 in 2009. Ramirez-Paredes et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. In 2009, Ottem et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Mikalsen et al. 2007) Ottem et al. 2009 . Ottem et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of Ottem et al. 2008 in 2009. Ottem et al. elevated the subspecies Mikalsen et al. 2007 to the rank of species to form this name in 2009.
