The species Desulfurococcus kamchatkensis was originally described and validly published by Kublanov et al. 2009. Perevalova et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Desulfurococcus amylolyticus Bonch-Osmolovskaya et al. 2001 emend. Perevalova et al. 2016
in 2016.
