The species Arcobacter thereius was originally described and validly published by Houf et al. 2009. In 2018, Pérez-Cataluña et al. established Arcobacter thereius as the basonym of
Aliarcobacter thereius (Houf et al. 2009) Pérez-Cataluña et al. 2020
.
