Nomenclatural History
The genus Kistimonas was originally proposed and validly published by Choi et al. 2010. Lee et al. published an emended description of this genus in 2012. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Goldberg et al. in 2018 and Ellis et al. in 2019.

The emendation by Goldberg et al. 2018 could potentially conflict with Bartz et al. 2018, who placed Kistimonas in the Endozoicomonadaceae fam. nov.
