The family Lysobacteraceae was originally proposed by Christensen and Cook 1978. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Naushad et al. published an emended description of this family in 2015. Naushad et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Xanthomonadaceae Saddler and Bradbury 2005
in 2015.
