The species Chryseobacterium chaponense was originally described and validly published by Kämpfer et al. 2011. García-López et al. published an emended description of this species in 2019. In 2020, Nicholson et al. established as the basonym of (Kämpfer et al. 2011) Nicholson et al. 2020 emend. Peng et al. 2021 .
