Nomenclatural History
Upon validation, this name was corrected from (sic) to . The subspecies Actinoplanes ianthinogenes octamycini was originally described by Gauze et al. 1979. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 2011 the name was revived and validly published by Tamura et al.. Tamura et al. elevated this subspecies to the rank of species to form the name Tamura et al. 2011 in 2011.

This name was revived but is illegitimate because the specific epithet does not match the gender of the generic epithet. On revival, this name was corrected and elevated to the rank of species.
