The species Kyrpidia tusciae was originally described by Klenk et al. 2011. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 146 in 2012. Klenk et al. formed this name in 2011 by placing the species
Bacillus tusciae Bonjour and Aragno 1985
into the genus Kyrpidia Klenk et al. 2012 emend. Reiner et al. 2018.
