Nomenclatural History
The species Geobacillus thermoglucosidans was originally described and validly published by Nazina et al. 2001. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 81 in 2008. Coorevits et al. corrected this name from (sic) to . Coorevits et al. published an emended description of this species in 2012. Nazina et al. formed this name in 2001 by placing the species Suzuki et al. 1984 into the genus Nazina et al. 2001 emend. Aliyu et al. 2018. In 2018, Aliyu et al. established as the basonym of (Suzuki et al. 1984) Aliyu et al. 2019 .

Although the original epithet 'thermoglucosidasius' is grammatically incorrect and therefore contravenes Rule 57a, it cannot be corrected according to the note to Rule 61a. The name "Geobacillus thermoglucosidans" contravenes Rule 61a and is therefore illegitimate.
